Focus- Repetition- Mastery- Addition
The 60 Day challenge is an intense 500 shot workout that focuses on mastering the skill of shooting the basketball, and a journal that will challenge players mentally on a daily basis. The process of skill mastery is clothed in repetition and competition. You will not find 40+ drills in this program. It is not flashy. To achieve any level of mastery, repetition is a requirement. It creates muscle memory. Also, By recording your shooting results, you will have the chance to compete against someone just as good as you every single day- YOU YESTERDAY.
The most common problem I see in young basketball players today is they do not understand the process of skill mastery. They love flashy drills that they can post on social media to show everyone how good they are getting. The problem is that getting good at playing in basketball GAMES, is not a flashy process. It does not take countless creative drills. It takes skill mastery. The focus must be on what skill you need to improve upon and then getting game-like reps to master that skill. Once you have achieved a level of mastery(which usually takes a few months or more), then move on the the next dimension you want to add to your game.

This is a proven strategy for reaching your ceiling of potential. I did some form of this game-speed workout 6 days a week during every off-season starting when I was 12 years old. When I look back on my career, I truly believe that I maxed out my potential. I got as good as I could get. Being the best you can possibly be is all you can hope for as an athlete, and more importantly, as a person. This program will get you on the right track to pursue the best version of yourself in basketball and in life.
There are 3 levels of the 60 Day Challenge– Here is how you can know which level is right for you:
Beginner- For players who are still in the process of developing proper shooting form. Recommended for younger inexperienced players who have developed a passion for the game and are ready to work hard to get better.
Intermediate- For all players who are not considered 3 point shooters yet.
Advanced- For players who are decent shooters who want to become lights out from beyond the arc. Players who want to turn their shooting capability into shooting mastery must pick up this program.
*Before you start the program, get an evaluation of your shooting form from a shooting expert trainer, or your coach. You have to make sure your shot is mechanically solid before putting in a high volume of reps. Drew Hanlen said, “A bad rep takes away more than a good rep adds.” Make sure your reps are good.
Don’t forget the process:
Focus- Know what you want to get great at. Plan your workout around it.
Reps- Create muscle memory.
Mastery- Rep until you are great. Don’t stop at pretty good.
Addition- Move on to the next dimension you want to add to your game.
Good luck and embrace the process. Getting good may be boring and repetitive at times, but being good sure is a lot of fun.
